About the Role
Are you an experienced Sprinkler Design Engineer looking for your next opportunity?
Technical Resources is partnering with a leading provider of fire suppression and sprinkler systems to hire a Sprinkler Design Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for producing detailed sprinkler system designs across a range of commercial and residential projects, ensuring full compliance with relevant British and European standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Sprinkler System Design: Produce hydraulic calculations and detailed sprinkler layout drawings using CAD and specialist design software in accordance with BS EN 12845, LPC Rules, and NFPA standards as required.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and issue design packages, specifications, and as-built drawings to support project delivery from concept through to handover.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with project managers, site engineers, contractors, and clients to resolve design queries and ensure design intent is maintained throughout construction.
- Technical Oversight & Reporting: Review and check designs produced by junior engineers, and provide technical support during the procurement and installation phases.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure all designs meet applicable fire safety standards and client requirements, maintaining accurate records throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience & Qualifications Required
Essential:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years as a Sprinkler Design Engineer within the fire suppression industry.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with hydraulic calculation software such as HydraCalc or Canute FHC, alongside proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit for sprinkler layout design.
- Project/Operational Scope: Demonstrable track record of designing wet, dry, or pre-action sprinkler systems across commercial, industrial, or residential projects.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously, and clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mobility & Eligibility: Right to Work in the UK at the time of application, with willingness to attend sites or offices across Stourbridge, Bury, and London as required.
Desirable:
- Certifications: LPCB or FIA membership; BAFSA-recognised training; CSCS card.
- Sector Background: Prior experience working on data centres, warehousing, high-rise residential, or critical infrastructure sprinkler projects.
