Job Title: Senior Technical Consultant (Passive Fire Protection)
Location: UK
Salary: From £50k to £80k per annum

Are you an experienced Passive Fire Protection professional looking for a senior-level technical role with the flexibility of working from home? Technical Resources are recruiting for a Senior Technical Consultant to deliver evidence-based firestopping assessments and technical guidance across a wide range of passive fire protection projects. You will be working for a highly respected organisation that helps raise standards across the passive fire sector through robust engineering assessments and technical expertise.

Responsibilities:

● Produce firestopping technical assessments in accordance with the Passive Fire Protection Forum (PFPF) Guide
● Review fire test evidence, configurations, failure modes and performance data to support engineering judgements
● Identify evidence gaps and determine requirements for additional testing, product information or supporting documentation
● Ensure assessments clearly define assumptions, limitations and compliance considerations
● Apply knowledge of BS 476, EN 1366, EN 1363, EN 13501, ASFP guidance and UK Building Regulations
● Review manufacturer test data and technical documentation relating to passive fire protection products
● Conduct independent technical reviews of assessments prepared by colleagues
● Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, manufacturers and design teams
● Attend technical meetings, workshops and project reviews as required
● Support and mentor junior consultants through coaching, peer review and knowledge sharing activities

Experience and Certifications Required:

● Significant experience in passive fire protection engineering, fire resistance assessments or fire testing
● Demonstrable experience producing or reviewing technical assessments aligned with the PFPF Guide
● Strong understanding of firestopping systems, materials and proprietary product performance
● Excellent knowledge of UK fire safety regulations, Approved Document B and relevant fire testing standards
● Experience interpreting complex fire test data and technical evidence
● Strong report writing skills with the ability to produce clear, technically robust assessments
● Membership of a relevant professional body (desirable)
● Experience within a fire testing laboratory, certification body or fire engineering consultancy (desirable)
● Knowledge of numerical analysis, heat transfer modelling or advanced fire engineering methods (desirable)
● Understanding of product certification schemes (desirable)
