Technical Resources is partnering with a leading provider of critical infrastructure security solutions to hire a Security Commissioning Engineer (Substation - CP). In this role, you will be responsible for the commissioning and testing of security systems across substation and critical power environments, ensuring all installations meet the required operational and compliance standards before handover.

Key Responsibilities
- System Commissioning: Commission, test, and validate security systems — including CCTV, access control, and intruder detection — within live and new-build substation environments.
- Site Surveys & Inspections: Carry out pre-commissioning inspections and site surveys to identify and resolve any installation deficiencies prior to sign-off.
- Stakeholder & Contractor Liaison: Coordinate with site managers, principal contractors, and client representatives to manage commissioning programmes and resolve technical issues on site.
- Technical Documentation & Reporting: Produce accurate commissioning records, test packs, snagging reports, and handover documentation in line with project requirements.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with relevant standards including BS EN 50132, BS 7858, and applicable DNO/National Grid site safety requirements.
Experience & Qualifications Required
Essential:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years as a Security Commissioning Engineer within the critical infrastructure or utilities industry.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on commissioning experience with leading physical security platforms such as Genetec, Lenel, Milestone, Honeywell, or equivalent access control and CCTV systems.
- Project/Operational Scope: Proven track record delivering commissioning activities on substation, critical power, or similar high-security infrastructure projects.
- Soft Skills: Strong client-facing communication skills, methodical fault-finding ability, and the capacity to work independently on high-security restricted sites.
- Mobility & Eligibility: Right to Work in the UK; willingness to travel to substation sites across London and surrounding regions.
Desirable:
- Certifications: CSCS/ECS card; SIA licence; NICEIC or NSI accreditation; CompEx or relevant electrical awareness certification beneficial for substation environments.
- Sector Background: Prior experience working within DNO, transmission, or National Grid substation programmes or other regulated critical national infrastructure contracts.
