Job Title: Overhead Linesman – SSE Accredited
Location: South East England
Rate: £400 - £700 per day
Are you an SSE Accredited Overhead Linesman based in the South East of England? Looking for your next contract opportunity? Technical Resources are recruiting for an experienced Overhead Linesman to work on overhead line construction, maintenance and refurbishment projects across LV, 11kV and 33kV distribution networks. You will be working for a specialist electrical infrastructure contractor delivering works within the power distribution sector.
Description of contract/programme of works:
● Organise, coordinate and supervise overhead line activities to ensure works are safely planned and efficiently delivered
● Review work packs, drawings, permits, RAMS and access arrangements prior to commencement of works
● Provide on-site leadership and technical support during construction, maintenance and refurbishment activities
● Supervise service line works, generator connections and daily operational activities
● Monitor live LV works and overhead line outages up to and including 33kV
● Implement and enforce safe systems of work, toolbox talks and site briefings
● Carry out site inspections, safety observations and address non-compliances where required
● Coordinate switching, isolations and earthing activities in line with authorisations
● Ensure plant, tools, vehicles and equipment are inspected and used correctly
● Support and mentor overhead line operatives, maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety
● Monitor programme delivery, quality and site performance
● Act as the primary site interface between operational teams, management and client representatives
Experience required:
● Extensive experience in overhead line construction and maintenance on LV, 11kV and 33kV distribution networks
● Proven experience supervising teams within high-risk electrical environments
● Strong understanding of Electrical Safety Rules, permits, switching procedures and safe systems of work
● Experience planning, coordinating and prioritising works to meet programme requirements
● Experience carrying out site inspections, audits and safety observations
● Excellent communication and leadership skills
Required documentation/certifications/tooling:
● SSE authorisation for LV overhead line construction and maintenance
● Experience working on 11kV and 33kV networks
● Pole Top Rescue certification
● Working at Height certification
● NRSWA accreditation (beneficial)
● EUSR / SHEA Power (beneficial)
● NPORS or equivalent MEWP, plant and machinery tickets (beneficial)
● Emergency First Aid or First Aid at Work certification (beneficial)
● Full UK Driving Licence
