About the Role

Are you an experienced Fire Detection & Alarm Installation Engineer looking for your next opportunity?

Technical Resources is partnering with a leading provider of fire detection and alarm systems to hire a Fire Detection & Alarm Installation Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation of fire detection and alarm systems across a range of commercial and residential sites, ensuring all works are completed safely, on time, and to the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Installation: Install fire detection and alarm systems including control panels, detectors, call points, and ancillary devices across new build and refurbishment projects.
  • Cable Management & Containment: Run and terminate cables in accordance with design drawings and relevant British Standards.
  • Stakeholder & Site Coordination: Liaise with site managers, main contractors, and other trades to ensure works are delivered in line with project programmes.
  • Technical Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate installation records, complete site paperwork, and contribute to handover documentation packs.
  • Quality & Compliance: Carry out all works in accordance with BS 5839 and relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring installations meet client and third-party inspection requirements.

Experience & Qualifications Required

Essential:

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years as a Fire Detection & Alarm Installation Engineer within the fire and life safety industry.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience installing systems from leading manufacturers such as Advanced, Hochiki, Notifier, Kentec, or Gent.
  • Project/Operational Scope: Proven track record of delivering fire alarm installations across commercial, industrial, or residential sites from first fix through to final testing.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a professional approach when engaging with clients and site personnel.
  • Mobility & Eligibility: Full UK driving licence and Right to Work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • Certifications: FIA Level 3 / ECS Gold Card / CSCS Card; additional qualifications in BS 5839 compliance advantageous.
  • Sector Background: Prior experience working on projects within critical infrastructure, healthcare, education, or high-rise residential environments.
