About the Role

Are you an experienced Fire & Security Solutions Estimator looking for your next opportunity?

Technical Resources is partnering with an independent fire and security systems provider to hire a Fire & Security Solutions Estimator. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing maintenance reports and customer enquiries, preparing accurate and commercially sound quotations for remedial works, upgrades and system improvements, and carrying out site surveys to define scope where needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Quotation Preparation: Review engineers' maintenance reports and customer enquiries to produce clear, accurate and commercially sound quotations for remedial works, replacements, upgrades and system improvements.
• Site Surveys: Carry out surveys where additional technical detail is required, agreeing scope of work directly with the customer before proceeding.
• Solution Development & Costing: Develop compliant solutions, calculate costs accurately and protect gross margin throughout the estimating process.
• Customer & Internal Liaison: Work closely with customers, field engineers and internal teams to progress opportunities from initial enquiry through to accepted order and smooth handover.
• Opportunity Management & Records: Follow up outstanding quotations, maintain accurate records of activity and pipeline, and identify where existing customers could benefit from additional services.

Experience & Qualifications Required

Essential:

• Experience: Minimum 3 years in a Fire & Security estimating, surveying or technical sales support role within the industry.
• Technical Skills: Hands-on knowledge of fire alarm systems, access control, intruder alarms and CCTV — sufficient to specify compliant solutions and produce accurate costings.
• Project/Operational Scope: Proven track record of preparing technical quotations for remedial works, system upgrades and new installations within a service or maintenance environment.
• Commercial Awareness: Ability to protect gross margin, interpret maintenance reports and translate technical findings into clear, customer-facing proposals.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication, attention to detail and the organisational ability to manage multiple quotations concurrently to deadline.
• Mobility & Eligibility: Full UK driving licence and Right to Work in the UK.

Desirable:

• Certifications: FIA-accredited training, GENT, Paxton, or other manufacturer system qualifications relevant to fire and security.
• Sector Background: Experience working within a service, maintenance or SME fire and security contractor environment, with familiarity of BS 5839, PD 6662 and relevant NSI/SSAIB standards.
• IT Skills: Competence with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel for quotation production and record-keeping.
