Technical Resources is partnering with a leading provider of structured cabling and network infrastructure solutions to hire a Data Cabling Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation and termination of data cabling systems across commercial sites, ensuring all works are completed to the highest standard and in line with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Cable Installation: Install Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fibre optic cabling across commercial and enterprise environments, following project schematics and drawings.
• Termination & Testing: Terminate, patch, and test copper and fibre cabling using appropriate test equipment, ensuring all results meet required performance standards.
• Stakeholder & Team Coordination: Liaise with site managers, project managers, and fellow engineers to ensure works progress on schedule and to specification.
• Technical Oversight & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of completed works, produce test documentation, and contribute to handover packs upon project completion.
• Quality & Compliance: Adhere to industry standards including ISO/IEC 11801 and BS EN 50173, alongside all relevant site health and safety regulations.

Experience & Qualifications Required

Essential:

• Experience: Minimum 2 years as a Data Cabling Engineer within the telecoms or structured cabling industry.
• Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A copper cabling and fibre optic installations; proficiency with cable testers such as Fluke DSX or similar.
• Project/Operational Scope: Proven track record of delivering structured cabling installations across commercial office, retail, or enterprise environments.
• Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently on site, and clear communication with site and project teams.
• Mobility & Eligibility: Right to Work in the UK at the time of application; able to travel to sites across London.

Desirable:

• Certifications: CSCS card; ECS card; City & Guilds or equivalent structured cabling qualification; BICSI certification advantageous.
• Sector Background: Prior experience on data centre, critical infrastructure, or large-scale commercial fit-out projects.
