Telecoms Project Manager
Salary: £45,000–£55,000 per annum
Location: Fully remote, UK
Start date: Ideally mid-October 2026
Interview: One-stage Microsoft Teams interview, Friday 11 September, 10:00am–3:00pm
The opportunity
A well-established UK utilities and telecoms services business is seeking an experienced Telecoms Project Manager to oversee reactive telecoms operations and customer connections.
This is a maternity-cover appointment, with the current postholder due to start leave in November. The successful candidate should ideally join by mid-October to allow for a full handover.
The company has no candidates currently in process and is not working with other recruitment agencies.
The role
This is a customer-facing operational role focused on reactive/hyproactive telecoms works, including customer connections, in-home fixes and short-turnaround jobs.
It is not a network build, fibre build or construction-management position. Candidates whose experience is primarily in build delivery are unlikely to be suitable.
You will manage the day-to-day flow of work between clients, coordinators and field engineers, ensuring jobs are scheduled efficiently, completed on time and delivered to a high customer-service standard.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of reactive/hyproactive telecoms works and customer connections
- Work with coordinators to schedule engineers and organise daily workloads
- Monitor engineer productivity, chase outstanding jobs and address performance issues
- Maintain regular communication with clients and manage service expectations
- Resolve operational issues before they affect service delivery or the customer experience
- Handle customer complaints professionally and drive issues through to resolution
- Act as a key link between customers, engineers, coordinators and internal operational teams
- Ensure works are completed within agreed timescales and processes run efficiently
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, service delivery and customer satisfaction
Candidate profile
You will have telecoms-sector experience, specifically within the reactive customer-connections environment. Experience with Openreach, Virgin Media or similar reactive telecoms contracts would be beneficial.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Experience managing reactive telecoms works, customer connections or in-home repair activity
- Strong customer and client relationship-management skills
- Confidence handling complaints, delays and service issues
- Experience coordinating field engineers and monitoring operational performance
- Strong organisation, prioritisation and communication skills
- A proactive approach to resolving outstanding works and improving delivery
- The ability to work independently in a fully remote role
Location and package
The position is fully remote and can be performed from anywhere in the UK. Employees may use the company’s UK offices if they choose, although there is no regular office requirement. Occasional client or in-person meetings may be required.
- £45,000–£55,000, dependent on experience
- Fully remote working
- Optional access to UK offices
- No company car, car allowance or bonus currently included
Process
The hiring process consists of one Microsoft Teams interview on Friday 11 September, between 10:00am and 3:00pm. The company is looking to move quickly, with a preferred start date of mid-October 2026.
