Job Title: Fire & Security Design Engineer
Location: Covering Peterborough to London – Hybrid
Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 + car
Are you a Fire & Security Design Engineer based between Peterborough and London looking for your next opportunity? As a Fire & Security Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing detailed fire and security system designs across a variety of commercial, industrial, and residential sites, working closely with clients and internal teams to deliver compliant, cost-effective solutions from survey through to handover. You will be joining an established company with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality fire and security solutions to its customers.
Responsibilities:
* Carry out site surveys to assess existing infrastructure and gather information required for system design.
* Produce accurate and compliant fire and security system designs, including fire detection, intruder, and access control systems.
* Prepare detailed quotations and costings based on survey findings and client requirements.
* Attend client meetings to discuss design proposals, present solutions, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
* Liaise with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure designs are delivered on time and within budget.
* Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards and industry regulations.
Experience and Certifications required:
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a fire and security design or estimating role.
* Proven knowledge of fire detection systems, intruder alarms, and access control in line with BS 5839, BS EN 50131, and related standards.
* Experience using CAD or design software to produce system drawings and schematics.
* Strong commercial awareness with the ability to produce accurate, competitive quotations.
* Full UK driving licence, as the role involves regular travel across the patch.
* FIA Certificate in Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (desirable).
