Location: Remote (office attendance every six weeks; occasional site visits required)

Technical Resources is partnering with a technically strong, fast-growing provider of integrated security systems to hire a Security Systems Design Engineer. In this role, you will play a central part in the design and bid process, supporting senior consultants and technical design engineers to win and deliver complex security projects across a range of commercial and enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Security Systems Design: Develop and document client operational requirements in line with HOSDB, BSIA and NSI guidance, and produce fully detailed system designs using approved technologies and vendors.
- Site Surveys & Technical Scoping: Carry out site surveys to establish design inputs and technical requirements, translating findings into accurate, compliant system specifications.
- Bid & Proposal Support: Assist consultants and senior technical design engineers with quotations, tenders, presentations and bid submissions, producing schematic drawings, system descriptions, cost estimates and supporting proposal documentation.
- Project Handover & Coordination: Support contract reviews to ensure a smooth handover to the projects and operations team, working with project managers to produce detailed drawings and schedules where required.
- Quality & Compliance: Maintain accurate records within the company's Microsoft Dynamics system and ensure all designs adhere to relevant British Standards and current industry guidance, including BS EN 50132 and BS 7858 where applicable.
Experience & Qualifications Required
Essential:
- Experience: Minimum five years in a technical sales or technical design role within the security industry.
- Technical Skills: Strong hands-on knowledge of CCTV, IP video, access control, wide-area and wireless networking, and integrated security systems, with experience across platforms such as Avigilon, Genetec, Milestone, Lenel, Gallagher or Brivo.
- Design Tools: Proficiency in CAD or Visio for producing schematic drawings and system documentation.
- Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident customer-facing ability, and the capacity to work independently while managing multiple deadlines under pressure.
- Mobility & Eligibility: Full UK driving licence, willingness to travel for site visits, and the Right to Work in the UK.
Desirable:
- Certifications: NSI, BSIA membership, or relevant industry qualifications such as CSCS/ECS; familiarity with video analytics and perimeter detection technologies.
- Sector Background: Prior experience supporting bids or design work on enterprise commercial, critical infrastructure or large-scale integrated security contracts.
