Key Information Document

No surprises, just the facts.

Your pay and contract breakdown, laid out clearly from the start.

What is a Key Information Document (KID)?

Key Information Document (KID) is a mandatory document that Technical Resources Ltd provides to all contractors before you agree to any assignment.

Its main purpose is to give you clear, upfront details about how you’ll be paid, what deductions will be made, and what your estimated take-home pay will be.

This helps you make informed decisions and ensures full transparency about your pay and employment arrangements.

Why do you need KID?

Transparency

The KID breaks down how your pay is calculated, including all statutory and non-statutory deductions.

Compliance

It is a legal requirement for all recruitment agencies to provide a KID to agency workers before any contractual terms are agreed.

Protection

The KID helps protect you from misunderstandings or non-compliant pay practices, and makes it clear how working through an intermediary (such as an umbrella company) will affect your pay.

What Information Will You Find in a KID?

Your Key Information Document will typically include:

  • Your name (optional, but often included for clarity)
  • Type of contract (e.g., contract for services, contract of employment)
  • Who employs you (e.g., Technical Resources Ltd, an umbrella company, or another intermediary)
  • Who pays you (and details of any business connection between parties)
  • Your rate of pay (hourly, daily, or assignment rate)
  • Pay intervals (e.g., weekly, monthly)
  • Statutory deductions (such as Income Tax, National Insurance, Student Loan)
  • Non-statutory deductions (such as private healthcare or umbrella company margin)
  • Holiday entitlement
  • Fees for goods or services (if any)
  • Estimated net take-home pay (with a worked example)
  • Representative example statement showing how deductions affect your pay

When Will You Receive a KID?

  • Before you agree to any assignment: The KID is one of the first documents you’ll receive from us, so you have all the essential pay information before committing to a contract.

  • If your circumstances change: A new KID will be issued if there are changes to your pay method, deductions, or if you switch to a different umbrella company or engagement type.
