Senior Telecom & Network Engineer – Up to £45k + Benefits

 The Senior Telecom & Network Engineer liaises with all business areas, third party vendors\partners and customers. Responsible for all trainee & apprentices

Key responsibilities for the Telecommunications System Engineer:
  • Remotely install, configure and test system operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Maintain security/backup strategies
  • Pre sales enquires
  • Plan, deploy support Mitel MiVoice Business & MiVoice Office 250
  • Supporting trainee & apprentices and being the senior presence amongst the engineers
  • Liaising with vendors and customers for high level system escalations
  • Maintain and manage various hardware\software such as; Network switches (Cisco, HP ProCurve), Mitel phone systems (MiVoice Business, MiVoice Office 250), Wireless infrastructure (Cisco Meraki, Ruckus), Security appliances (Cisco ASA, Cisco NGFW, Smoothwall)
Experience and Qualifications required for the Telecommunications System Engineer role:
  • Experience two or more years working in a similar role for a managed service provider (MSP)
  • An up-to-date Mitel certified associate for either MiVoice Office 250/Business
  • An active Cisco CCNP certification
  • Practical knowledge of dynamic routing protocols specifically BGP and OSPF
  • Operating experience with VLANs, Switching and Quality of Service
  • Practical knowledge of ISDN, Analogue and SIP technologies
  • Desirable to have a comprehensive understanding of DNS, DHCP & Active Directory as well as experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server Environments
  • Would be beneficial to have a working knowledge of virtual infrastructure.
  • Excellent listening skills. With the ability to understand and interpret user & customer requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills, covering both technical and business processes.
  • Broad creative thinking, to be able to come up with new ideas to improve infrastructure, systems, process & financial performance
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Good organizational and planning skills and have an ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Supporting colleagues with technical knowledge
  • Managing complex cases
  • Supporting the management team
