Role: Utilities Estimator
Location: Cheshire (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum + Company Car/Allowance (£450–£500/month) + Pension + Performance-related Bonus
Technical Resources are recruiting for a Utilities Estimator to join a growing team in Cheshire. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise and support the company’s growth by preparing accurate and competitive estimates for utility projects. As a Utilities Estimator, you will play a key role in preparing tenders and quotations for utility infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end estimating process and ensuring all risks are identified and managed, while ensuring all documentation meets company and client standards.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed tenders and quotations from project specifications and drawings within deadlines
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate risks, constraints, and potential issues
- Produce and present formal handover documentation for accepted projects
- Lead handover meetings and communicate project scope, estimates, clarifications, and assumptions to internal teams and clients
- Complete required documentation and maintain accurate financial records for each project
- Review and report on projects with the Business Development Manager (BDM)
- Identify discrepancies or areas for clarification in project documentation
- Attend contract meetings with clients and contractors, professionally representing the company
- Liaise with key stakeholders (e.g., Tom) for review and approval of estimates
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and market rates
Experience and Certifications Required:
- Proven experience as an Estimator within the utilities sector (water, gas, electricity, or telecoms)
- In-depth knowledge of the utilities industry, including current regulations and best practices
- Experience preparing cost estimates and tenders for utility projects
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and project specifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office suite
