Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Durham
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum + £5,000 Car Allowance + Benefits
Technical Resources is seeking a skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of major utilities projects ranging from £100k to £7m. This role is critical to ensuring robust commercial management and project success in the Durham area.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the commercial aspects of utilities projects, ensuring compliance with NEC and JCT contracts.
- Prepare and submit monthly Cost Value Reconciliation reports and interim valuations.
- Work closely with project management and site teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and project delivery.
- Attend and contribute to weekly/monthly project reviews and client progress meetings.
- Identify, notify, and value project changes, including variations and claims.
- Procure subcontractors, plant, and materials, and manage monthly subcontractor payments and final account agreements.
- Issue required Payment/Pay-less notices in line with contractual obligations.
- Assist in preparing extension of time and loss & expense submissions.
- Ensure robust cash flow forecasting and cost management processes.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, supply chain, and internal teams.
Experience and Certifications Required:
- Proven experience in a similar QS or Senior QS role, ideally within the utilities or civil engineering sector.
- Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
- Excellent commercial acumen and negotiating skills.
- Highly organised, numerate, and able to work to tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships.
