Role: Lead Design and Estimating Engineer (Security)

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum
Technical Resources are recruiting for a Lead Design and Estimating Engineer to join a growing security business with a strong presence in solar farm and perimeter protection projects. This is a key position offering a clear pathway into future leadership, while actively shaping the technical and commercial output of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate security system designs for perimeter and solar farm projects
- Generate detailed client quotations and technical proposals
- Conduct desktop-based and occasional on-site surveys to scope projects
- Create system drawings and schedules using AutoCAD / AutoCAD LT and MS Projects
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain specifications and costs
- Produce comprehensive design packs, project schedules, and O&M documentation
- Prepare and support high-quality tenders and proposals
- Conduct technical feasibility checks, risk assessments, and pricing strategy input
- Collaborate with sales and commercial teams to align bids with business goals
- Support contract review processes related to new bid opportunities
- Ensure technical and commercial consistency across departments
- Lead project handovers from pre-sales to delivery
- Report regularly on bid activity and pipeline to senior management

- Help evolve internal systems, standards, and best practice in a high-growth setting
Experience and Certifications Required:
- Extensive experience in the electronic security industry (ideally perimeter or solar security)
- Strong background in system design and cost estimation for commercial or infrastructure projects
- Proficient in AutoCAD / AutoCAD LT and MS Projects
- Commercially aware, with an understanding of bid processes and cost modelling
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Involvement in bid/no-bid decisions and strategy development (desirable)
- Experience mentoring or managing technical team members (desirable)
- Familiarity with security industry standards and product ranges (desirable)
- Experience on high-value infrastructure or utilities projects (desirable)
- Understanding of project lifecycles and delivery handovers (desirable)
- Knowledge of SimPro and ISO 9001 / 27001 frameworks (desirable)
