Role: Junior Fire Alarm Estimator
Location: Havering
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum
Technical Resources are recruiting for a Junior Fire Alarm Estimator in Havering. This office-based role offers the perfect opportunity for someone eager to learn about electrical and fire alarm systems for commercial clients. You will support the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive quotations while developing your technical and commercial skills.
Responsibilities:
- Assist senior estimators in preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical and fire alarm systems
- Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to understand the scope of work
- Support the preparation and submission of quotations, bills of quantities, and tender documents
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to gather information and clarify requirements
- Help source and negotiate prices with suppliers and subcontractors
- Maintain and update estimating software and project databases
- Ensure all estimates comply with relevant regulations and standards
- Keep up to date with the latest products, installation methods, and industry best practices
- Participate in site visits to gather project information
- Support the team in meeting deadlines and maintaining high company standards
Experience and Certifications Required:
- 1 year’s experience in estimating or an electrical background (preferred, but not essential for the right candidate)
- Basic knowledge of fire alarm systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Good written and verbal communication skills for liaising with clients and colleagues
- Organised, with good time management and the ability to work to tight deadlines
- Self-motivated, eager to learn, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar software
- Awareness of fire and life safety regulations and standards
- Commercial awareness and willingness to develop technical and industry knowledge
- Customer-focused approach and a professional attitude at all times
