Role: Industrial Door Engineer
Location: South Wales
Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 per annum + Overtime + On-call allowances + Company vehicle
Technical Resources are seeking a skilled Industrial Door Engineer in South Wales. As an Industrial Door Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and servicing a range of industrial and commercial door systems. You will ensure doors operate efficiently, safely, and reliably in compliance with industry standards, safety legislation, and customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, and test roller shutters, sectional overhead doors, high-speed doors, sliding doors, and folding doors
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with manufacturer specifications and standards (e.g., BS EN 12453, BS EN 12635)
- Diagnose and repair faults in motors, control systems, safety devices, and mechanical components
- Adjust and calibrate doors for correct alignment and smooth operation
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Accurately complete service reports, job sheets, and parts requisition forms
- Provide technical advice and recommendations to customers
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to source parts and technical documentation
- Work in accordance with company and site-specific safety rules
- Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota
Experience and Certifications Required:
- Proven experience installing, servicing, and repairing industrial or commercial doors
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
- Familiarity with safety devices, control panels, and automation systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams
- Full UK driving licence (clean)
- Ability to pass full NPPV2 security vetting
- DHF or equivalent powered door safety certification – desirable
- IPAF, PASMA, or CSCS qualifications – desirable
- Experience with dock levellers, loading bay equipment, and related access systems – desirable
- Basic IT skills for electronic reporting – desirable
