Role: Fire Sprinklers Design Engineer

Location: Hereford & Worcester

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum

Technical Resources are recruiting for an experienced Fire Sprinklers Design Engineer to design, plan, and oversee the installation of fire sprinkler systems in Hereford & Worcester. This is a key role for someone with expertise in using CAD software, performing hydraulic calculations, and ensuring systems are compliant with NFPA standards and building codes.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and layout fire sprinkler systems using CAD software (AutoCAD or similar tools)
  • Interpret and apply NFPA standards and local fire codes for system compliance
  • Perform hydraulic calculations to determine water flow, pressure, and pipe sizing
  • Create detailed shop drawings, assembly diagrams, and material stock lists for installation teams
  • Select appropriate materials and equipment based on building type, occupancy, and fire hazard assessment
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) for system integration and approvals
  • Conduct site surveys and inspections to ensure design accuracy and installation quality
  • Prepare and submit engineering documents, permits, and submittal packages for review and approval
  • Provide technical support during installation and resolve design-related issues
  • Stay updated on advancements in fire protection technology and industry standards

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • Proven experience as a Fire Sprinklers Design Engineer
  • Expertise in designing fire sprinkler systems using CAD software
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and fire protection codes
  • Ability to perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler system designs
  • Familiarity with construction documents, including architectural and engineering drawings
  • Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders (architects, contractors, AHJ) and managing approvals
  • Ability to conduct site surveys and inspections for system verification
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, HNC, or similar)
  • NICET or equivalent certifications (desirable)
  • BSi certification for fire sprinkler systems (desirable)
  • CAD software (AutoCAD or specialised tools)
  • Calculation tools for hydraulic design
