Role: Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer
Location: Stourbridge, Bury or London
Salary: £35,000 - £55,000 per annum
Technical Resources are recruiting for a Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer to join a commercial team of a leading fire protection contractor. You’ll play a critical role in the design and coordination of sprinkler systems across a variety of commercial projects, supporting both delivery teams and mentoring junior designers. We are looking for professionals based in Stourbridge, Bury or London.
Responsibilities:
- Design sprinkler systems including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems
- Complete hydraulic calculations using Canute or hand calculations
- Ensure compliance with LPCB, NFPA, FM, BS9251, BS9990, and related codes
- Produce 2D drawings for approval, construction and as-built stages
- Coordinate with other building services and attend client design meetings
- Conduct site surveys and assess installation feasibility
- Mentor junior designers and support their technical development
- Assist with installation-related queries and prepare RFIs as required
- Manage personal workload and oversee mentees’ planning and output
Experience and Certifications Required:
- At least 20 years’ experience in the fire suppression industry
- Strong working knowledge of sprinkler systems and hydraulic principles
- LPCB Basic, Intermediate or FHC (preferred)
- Experience with client coordination, site surveys and installation support
- Familiarity with BIM and drawing standards
- Proficient in MS Office and CAD software
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communicator and team mentor
- Detail-focused and organised under pressure
- Comfortable liaising with clients and project teams
