Fire Door Remedial Engineer

Rate: £250 p/day
Technical Resources are recruiting for an experienced Fire Door Remedial Engineer to join a growing specialist contractor working across residential, commercial, and public sector buildings. You will be responsible for carrying out high-standard remedial works in line with BS 8214 and third-party schemes like BM TRADA.
Description of contract/programme of works:

Perform remedial works on fire doors and door sets following BM TRADA ART and manufacturer guidance

Adjust, repair, or replace ironmongery (hinges, locks, closers, signage, etc.)

Reseat or replace intumescent and smoke seals
-
Correct non-compliant gaps and realign door leaves or frames
-
Reinstate or repair frames, architraves, or door edges
-
Install fire stopping (batt and mastic systems) around door frames
-
Provide detailed before-and-after photographic evidence and job reports
-
Ensure work complies with health and safety standards and project RAMS
-
Liaise with site managers, tenants, and compliance teams professionally
Experience required:
-
Proven joinery/carpentry background with fire door remedial experience
-
Strong knowledge of BS 8214, BS EN 1634-1, and Approved Document B
-
Comfortable interpreting survey reports and fire risk assessments
-
Experience with third-party certification schemes (e.g. BM TRADA, FIRAS)
-
Skilled with hand and power tools for timber and door repairs
-
High attention to detail and quality workmanship
-
Able to work independently or within a team
Required documentation/certifications/tooling:
-
ECS or CSCS card – Beneficial (not essential for site access but desirable for competency verification)

Clean driving licence and own transport
