Job Title: Fire Alarm Engineer

Location: Lancashire and South Cumbria (Field-Based)

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum + Company Van + Phone + Tablet + Fuel Card + 24 Days Holiday (excluding Bank Holidays)

Technical Resources are recruiting for a Fire Alarm Engineer based in Lancashire or South Cumbria. As a Fire Alarm Engineer, you will be expected to install, service, and maintain fire alarm systems across a variety of sites, ensuring compliance with UK standards and delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, test, and commission conventional, addressable, and hybrid fire alarm systems
  • Ensure compliance with BS 5839 and all relevant UK fire safety regulations
  • Conduct site surveys and provide technical advice on system design and specifications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues with minimal disruption to clients
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of fire alarm systems
  • Carry out fault-finding, repairs, and upgrades as required
  • Participate in out-of-hours rota to respond to emergency callouts
  • Provide solutions and temporary safety measures for urgent issues
  • Complete service reports, installation certificates, and all regulatory documentation
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols and maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing technical advice and support

Experience and Certifications required:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience installing and maintaining fire alarm systems
  • In-depth knowledge of UK fire alarm standards and regulations (BS 5839, Fire Safety Order 2005)
  • Experience with conventional, addressable, and wireless fire alarm systems
  • Relevant qualifications such as FIA or equivalent in fire alarm systems
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Electrical qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds 17th/18th Edition) - desirable
  • Knowledge of other fire safety systems such as emergency lighting and access control - desirable
  • Familiarity with commissioning software and tools for fire alarm systems - desirable
