Role: Fire Alarm & AOV Designer Estimator
Location: North London
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum + Car Allowance
Technical Resources are currently recruiting for an experienced Fire Alarm & AOV Design Estimator in North London. This role will provide expert design and quotation support for smoke control systems, interpreting industry-standard drawings, floorplans, specifications, and fire strategies. The ideal candidate will have up-to-date knowledge of relevant BS and EN standards for both natural and mechanical smoke ventilation systems, the ability to specify components and estimate labour requirements accurately, and the ability to participate in client meetings and design discussions, including on-site visits when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Design Mechanical & Natural Smoke Ventilation systems to meet client requirements and all relevant BS/EN standards
- Accurately cost both parts and labour, providing comprehensive quotations
- Prepare detailed handover packs for Project Managers, outlining the scope of works and core costings
- Provide technical support to Project Managers for design changes or client requests
- Liaise with suppliers and specialist sub-contractors for costings
- Progress internal and external customer enquiries, interpret specifications, and select appropriate equipment
- Collaborate with the Projects Team to comply with work instructions, company policies, and Health & Safety procedures
- Assist with technical support workload and other reasonable requests from the account management team
- Work alongside the BDM/Sales Team across the UK, designing competitively priced systems and solutions from survey and technical design to completion
Experience and Certifications Required:
- Experience designing Mechanical & Natural Smoke Vent systems
- Ability to design systems from drawings and client requirement documents
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Experience managing projects and tasks with tight deadlines
- Effective time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships internally and with clients
- Sound technical knowledge and experience in the fire and smoke control industry
- Demonstrated competency in analytical thinking and problem-solving
