Role: Electrical Service Engineer
Location: Midlands
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum + Vehicle
Technical Resources are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Service Engineer to join an existing team in the Midlands. The role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of security screening equipment, including X-ray machines, trace detection devices, and archway metal detectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring minimal downtime for clients, performing planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and delivering technical support and training.
Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of security screening equipment, including X-ray machines, trace detection devices, and archway metal detectors
- Diagnose and resolve equipment faults efficiently to minimise downtime for clients
- Conduct PPM visits and ensure all servicing provisions are certified and documented
- Deliver technical support and training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance
- Respond to emergency call-outs and participate in a 24/7/365 support rota as required
- Maintain detailed service records and complete all necessary technical documentation
- Liaise with customers to ensure their requirements are fully understood and met
- Adhere to all relevant health, safety, and security protocols, including working in high-security environments such as HM Prison & Probation Service and HM Courts & Tribunal Service
- Contribute to the company’s environmental and corporate social responsibility initiatives, including waste recycling and efficient route planning
Experience and Certifications Required:
- Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of security screening or similar electromechanical equipment
- Recognised engineering qualification (e.g., BTEC, C&G, HNC, or equivalent) in electrical, electronic, or mechanical engineering
- Strong technical skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
- High level of self-motivation, reliability, and professionalism
- Willingness to travel regularly across the UK, with occasional overnight stays as required
- Valid UK driving licence
- Experience with IT networking, PLCs, HV systems, or integrated security solutions
- Previous work in high-security or regulated environments (e.g., correctional, judicial, or aviation sectors)
- CTC (Counter Terrorist Check) or similar security clearance, or willingness to obtain
- Experience providing customer training and technical support
