Design Engineer – Fire Alarm & Detection Systems

Rate: £380 per day
Duration: 1 month with potential extension
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our team on a site-based assignment in Sunderland. The successful candidate will work on the design, review, and production of fire alarm and detection system layouts, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake design, review, and “As Built” documentation for fire alarm and detection systems.
- Produce and verify VESDA layout designs and related documentation.
- Complete fire alarm and detection layout drawings.
- Perform Advanced MxPro5 loop and power calculations.
- Develop and maintain accurate “As Built” design records.
- Utilize BIM, Revit, CAD, and VESDA Aspire software for all design work.
- Conduct onsite reviews to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of system designs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in designing fire alarm and detection systems.
- Strong working knowledge of VESDA, Revit, CAD, and relevant design standards.
- Ability to operate independently and manage site-based design activities.
- Comfortable working in a demanding, deadline-driven environment.
Working Pattern
- 50 hours per week (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Early finish on Fridays where weekly hours are met
- Full-time onsite role (no remote working)
Contract Details
- Initial term: 1 month
- Potential for extension dependent on project phase progression
