Technical Resources are recruiting for a Design Engineer that will be responsible for creating detailed designs, drawings, and cost estimates for fire detection and alarm systems projects, including both new systems and extensions. This role encompasses overseeing the entire design process, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and managing project documentation.
Responsibilities :
- Design comprehensive fire detection and alarm systems tailored to client needs.
- Estimate costs and prepare detailed proposals for client consideration.
- Produce accurate and compliant fire system drawings for both new installations and system extensions.
- Collaborate with on-site commercial, technical, and operational management to ensure alignment with company standards and client requirements.
- Participate in client contract meetings and prepare contract reports.
- Manage and prepare project files, including all necessary LPCB/BRE LPS1014 documentation from design certification to verification.
- Maintain the Technical Library, ensuring it includes up-to-date product information and legislative requirements.
- Compile monthly reports detailing project activities for the General Manager.
- Engage actively in monthly contract meetings and fulfil other reasonable requests from senior management.
Experience and Certifications Required:
- Proven expertise in the design and modification of fire detection and alarm systems.
- City & Guilds in Electrical Engineering or a comparable qualification.
- Extensive experience with estimation and design of both conventional and analogue addressable fire detection and alarm systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations, environmental and technical compliance, including CDM regulations.
- FIA Units 1, 2, 3 in Design or equivalent certifications.
- Ability to design systems in accordance with BS5839 Pt1 and LPCB/BRE LPS1014 standards.
- Strong grasp of quality control, work planning methods, and key operational management disciplines.
- Acute knowledge of commercial and contractual issues relevant to fire system projects.
