Role: Data Centre Technician
Location: West London
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Technical Resources are recruiting for a motivated Data Centre Technician to join a team in West London. The role involves working with a variety of people and handling various issues as they arise within a data centre environment. You will be expected to work closely with site teams and clients, managing day-to-day faults and requests. Strong customer service, communication skills, and a flexible approach to work are essential for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out tasks in line with client’s Supplier Reference Guide and Working Processes Guidelines
- Adhere to processes and instructions delivered by co-location providers
- Escort client contractors, ensuring compliance with on-site regulations
- Conduct site induction administration for visitors and contractors
- Perform DH5 and Staging Area 5 walkarounds every morning and evening, advising the client of any issues identified
- Conduct weekly cabinet security lock checks and advise clients of any issues, such as battery replacements
- Install and decommission Structured Cabling and Design, including patch panels, patch leads, and cable management
- Troubleshoot and test structured cabling using Fluke equipment and produce certification
- Assist clients with hardware installations, including servers, switches, and floor-standing cabinets
- Carry out essential Data Centre Maintenance Tasks, including Cabinet, PDU, and Containment Modifications
- Raise tickets on the co-location provider’s customer portal and work with field engineers to resolve issues
- Update and maintain data centre site stock lists, sending updated versions to clients via email
Experience and Certifications Required:
- Relevant practical experience in a similar role
- Experience installing mainstream copper and fibre ICT cabling systems
- General understanding and knowledge of Data Centre Services
- Understanding of Data Centre M&E, including Power Distribution and Cooling
- ECS/CSCS Card (Essential)
- Relevant qualification, e.g., CNet CNCI®, CNet CNIT®, BICSI Installer Level 2/3, or a recognised equivalent
- Full, clean driving licence
