Role: Construction Estimator
Location: West London
Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 per annum
Technical Resources are recruiting a Construction Estimator to join a team in West London. This is an office-based role, with the expectation of being on-site 5 days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and competitive tenders for civil engineering and construction works, using company estimating systems and procedures.
- Undertake manual and digital quantity take-offs from drawings and tender documents.
- Produce Bills of Quantities using appropriate methods of measurement, in spreadsheet or estimating software formats.
- Work with the supply chain and procurement teams to gather and collate quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers, ensuring all documentation is complete before sending out enquiries.
- Research and analyse current market rates for materials, equipment, and labour.
- Produce cashflow profiles for all tenders, supporting financial planning and bid adjudication.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of tender documents, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Issue handover documents following contract award and support the transition to delivery teams.
- Liaise closely with engineering, design, and temporary works teams to ensure robust and compliant bids.
- Undertake any other tasks as required by the department head or senior estimators to support business objectives.
Experience and Certifications Required:
- Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction sector, preferably with exposure to commercial fit-out, refurbishment, or civil engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, measurement, and estimating software.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail in cost analysis and tender preparation.
- Effective communicator, able to liaise with internal teams and external suppliers/subcontractors.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, able to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
- Collaborative approach, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve company objectives.
- HNC, HND, or degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
