Role: Business Development Manager & Project Manager

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum

Technical Resources are recruiting for a Business Development Manager & Project Manager in Portsmouth to join a leading fire protection company. This hybrid role combines building client relationships, securing new projects, and delivering fire safety solutions from concept to completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new business opportunities through networking, lead nurturing, and quoting for fire safety systems
  • Manage and grow existing client accounts, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities
  • Oversee the design, quotation, and estimating of fire safety projects
  • Deliver projects end-to-end – from initial concept and design through to installation and post-project review
  • Lead projects on-site, working closely with engineers to ensure smooth delivery
  • Ensure solutions meet British Standards, particularly BS 5839, and current regulations
  • Conduct client site visits, surveys, and technical solution design
  • Prepare accurate quotations ensuring commercial and technical viability
  • Schedule resources and coordinate engineers and subcontractors
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and quality assurance to company standards
  • Work with company directors on major and high-value accounts

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • Technical experience designing, supplying, installing, and commissioning fire alarm systems (essential)
  • Proven sales and business development experience in the fire safety or related sector (essential)
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of successful delivery (essential)
  • In-depth understanding of BS 5839 and fire safety legislation
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and client relationship skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Desirable – electrical background or qualification in the fire protection industry
