Role: Business Development Manager & Project Manager
Location: Portsmouth
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum
Technical Resources are recruiting for a Business Development Manager & Project Manager in Portsmouth to join a leading fire protection company. This hybrid role combines building client relationships, securing new projects, and delivering fire safety solutions from concept to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new business opportunities through networking, lead nurturing, and quoting for fire safety systems
- Manage and grow existing client accounts, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities
- Oversee the design, quotation, and estimating of fire safety projects
- Deliver projects end-to-end – from initial concept and design through to installation and post-project review
- Lead projects on-site, working closely with engineers to ensure smooth delivery
- Ensure solutions meet British Standards, particularly BS 5839, and current regulations
- Conduct client site visits, surveys, and technical solution design
- Prepare accurate quotations ensuring commercial and technical viability
- Schedule resources and coordinate engineers and subcontractors
- Manage budgets, timelines, and quality assurance to company standards
- Work with company directors on major and high-value accounts
Experience and Certifications Required:
- Technical experience designing, supplying, installing, and commissioning fire alarm systems (essential)
- Proven sales and business development experience in the fire safety or related sector (essential)
- Strong project management skills with a track record of successful delivery (essential)
- In-depth understanding of BS 5839 and fire safety legislation
- Excellent communication, organisational, and client relationship skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Desirable – electrical background or qualification in the fire protection industry
