Technical Resources are working with a leading AV technology company that is continuing to grow, and they are now looking to recruit an experienced AV Technical Director. This is a senior leadership role for someone with a strong technical foundation in AV, combined with proven experience managing engineering teams and overseeing the technical delivery of commercial AV projects. The role is hybrid, requiring at least one office day per week, plus site visits across London.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead the technical delivery of commercial AV projects, ensuring high standards, compliance, and technical excellence—particularly in video walls, programming, and complex systems.
  • Attend client meetings, interpret technical requirements, manage expectations, and provide expert consultancy.
  • Carry out site visits to assess progress, resolve technical challenges, and ensure installations meet company standards.
  • Directly manage, mentor, and evaluate a team of 10 install and service engineers, plus a project manager.
  • Continually improve technical processes and operational workflows across the department.
  • Identify training needs, coordinate external training, and deliver hands-on technical upskilling where required.
  • Act as the main escalation point for complex technical issues raised by engineers, PMs, or clients.
  • Conduct audits, performance reviews, and evaluations, recommending training or progression where appropriate.
  • Report directly to the senior leadership team and contribute to ongoing technology strategy.

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • Proven experience in commercial AV, with leadership responsibility for delivering large-scale projects.
  • Strong technical proficiency in AV systems, including video walls, programming, commissioning, and system integration.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, developing, and evaluating engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
  • Strong understanding of process improvement, compliance, and AV industry regulations.
