Role: Assistant/Junior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Durham
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum
Technical Resources are seeking an Assistant/Junior Quantity Surveyor to join a team in Durham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least 1 year of experience in the industry to support the Senior Quantity Surveyor in the successful delivery of major utilities projects ranging from £100k to £7m.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Senior QS in leading and managing the commercial aspects of utilities projects, ensuring compliance with contracts.
- Help prepare and submit monthly Cost Value Reconciliation reports and interim valuations.
- Carry out delegated tasks, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of project costs.
- Collaborate with internal teams, project management, and site teams to ensure timely and accurate project delivery.
- Attend and contribute to weekly/monthly project reviews and client progress meetings.
- Identify, notify, and value project changes, including variations and claims.
- Assist in the procurement of subcontractors, plant, and materials, and manage subcontractor payments and final account agreements.
- Support in preparing extension of time and loss & expense submissions.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, supply chain, and internal teams.
Experience and Certifications Required:
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a similar role within the Civil, Utilities, or Infrastructure sectors.
- Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
- Good commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Highly organised, numerate, and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
